Opening: institut für zukünfte House in Wolfsburg

Since 2023, I have been a member of the institute for futures (ifz) team. Now, there is big news: We, the institute for futures (ifz), are thrilled to announce the opening of our space at Goethestraße 16A, which will hopefully be a significant addition to our hometown of Wolfsburg. On February 1st, 2024, we received the keys to our new clubhouse. After extensive searching for vintage furniture and engaging in DIY woodworking, we are eager and well-prepared to send out invitations for grand festivals and more intimate regular events. The official opening was incredibly exciting, and we would like to thank everyone who joined us on May 24th to celebrate!

“The future is something that belongs to all of us. We are here to imagine it with you. Some may wonder why our name is plural: Institute of Future(s)? The reason is simple – there are multiple possible futures, and it’s up to us to choose which ones we want to bring closer with our actions and beliefs.” – opening speach by Linda Krüger

The ifz and its purpose are represented through various projects. Over the last few years, the community garden ‚Wurzelwerk‘ has been created and is growing with its community. Every Wednesday evening is gardening time. Besides, in 2023 the fem circle was launched to embrace feminism and equality. The transformation series will kick off in June this year, which I’m especially excited about as I curate it with Daniele Lauriola. The series will take place over multiple months, and we’re expecting up to 10 episodes across the four different topics. And let’s not forget our annual festival, which takes place over a full weekend.

Above, you can see our house from the inside. The table has been manufactured by a local carpenter. All wooden chairs were donated by a church from Wolfsburg and were carefully sanded and painted in our ifz blue. The space is available for renting for talks, workshops, and other community events.

Special thanks to our photographers, David Riedel and Ali Altschaffel, for capturing these fantastic shots of the day. Take some time to relive the memories, and hopefully, we’ll see you at one of our upcoming events!

About institut für zukünfte

The institute for futures (ifz) consists of different people with common ideas about possible, desirable futures. The question of how we want to live together in the future is central to our projects. A systemic way of thinking and the recognition of complexity accompany our actions.

The ifz is based in the heart of Wolfsburg, GER.
